Michelle’s Marathon run for stickNstep

With an already busy life, mother of four Michelle Pearson, life has become even busier, as she not only runs a family, but as a director she also runs Wirral Fire Protection based in Birkenhead.

Michelle, who started running just to keep fit, has been in serious training since January, and with a target of 26.2 miles in her sights – she had previously got to an  impressive 20 miles .

Having run in the Southport 10K (February) and Liverpool (March) Half Marathon, by crossing the Rock ‘n’ Roll Liverpool finishing line, Michelle not only satisfied a personal goal but raised over £1000 for  Wallasey based Stick ‘n’ Step, her chosen charity for the event.

When asked how she became involved and how she finds the time, Michelle said, “I have a very supportive family, and the staff at Wirral Fire Protection are also with me all the way. It is a very busy schedule but by managing my time I can fit in the tasks the day brings. As managing director of a successful business, I really wanted to put something back into my community.

She added, “I enjoyed sports but not seriously, when the marathon came around I wanted to do it not only for myself but also to raise awareness and some funds for a local charity. I chose Stick ‘n’ Step after hearing about the 50/50 challenge it had made to businesses, and after meeting its representatives I was so impressed that I decided that through sponsorship I will turn £50 into £1,000.”

Stick ‘n’ Step’s 50/50 Challenge gives £50 to fifty businesses and then challenges them to see how much they can raise for the charity from this in a year.  The 50/50 Challenge can be used as a team-building exercise or as a test of creativity, endurance, and business acumen.

Kerry Roe-Ely of Stick ‘n’ Step is full of admiration for Michelle’s commitment to her epic run for charity, she said “When Michelle told us about her ideas for the marathon challenge we were delighted to lend her all our support. Apart from being a successful businesswoman, and family orientated person, she was determined that taking part in the marathon she could make a real difference and that is why she is running on behalf of Stick ‘n’ Step.  We all wish her the very best.”

Since 1992, Wirral Fire Protection has supplied fire safety services and products to thousands of North West businesses, and over this period it established itself as one of the most proactive and versatile fire safety companies around.

The ‘Rock n Roll’ concept started in 1998 in America and is characterised with live music at every mile and a concert at the end for all of the runners. The event, which has recently been held in Edinburgh and Dublin also takes place in other major cities around the world including Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Washington DC and San Francisco.
