Fire in Lancaster city centre

A fire broke out on the roof of a Lancaster city centre restaurant.

The small blaze started in an extraction unit building on the roof of Bar 1725 on Market Street on Thursday afternoon.

Three fire engines raced to the three storey building at around 2.25pm and a crowd gathered to watch as the crew used ladders due to difficulty accessing the fire.

Once access was gained, the fire was extinguished in around 30 minutes.

An investigation is under way into the cause.
