Bristol nail and beauty salon destroyed by blaze

A fire in a Bristol nail and beauty salon has destroyed the building and caused severe damage to a neighbouring restaurant.

Creations Nail and Beauty Salon was so damaged that it was declared unstable, while the roof of the next-door Simply Thai restaurant collapsed, according to This is Bristol.

The blaze, which caused other nearby shops to be evacuated and closed the main Gloucester Road, burnt from 10am, when firefighters from Avon Fire and Rescue Service were called.

No one was harmed in the fire and all staff and customers escaped the building before the firefighters arrived.

A suitable and sufficient fire risk assessment must be conducted on all commercial properties – including hairdressers and beauty salons – in England and Wales, under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.

If the fire risk assessment is not carried out to a suitable extent, the Responsible Person can face up to two years in prison or an unlimited fine.
