Ammunition find in Bracknell fire: Houses evacuated and man arrested

About 140 houses were evacuated as bomb disposal experts dealt with an ammunition find in Berkshire.

Police and firefighters discovered the “suspicious items” following a blaze at a property in Juniper, Bracknell, on Wednesday afternoon.

Bomb disposal experts removed the items, once they had been made safe, on Thursday evening.

A 25-year-old man is being questioned on suspicion of possession of ammunition without a certificate.

Thames Valley Police is appealing for people in the Birch Hill area to come forward with any information, and a 100m (328ft) cordon around the property was in place.

South Central Ambulance Service said it had a crew on stand-by at the scene in case it was needed.
