Blackfriars Bridge was closed to cars heading northbound after a black cab went up in flames.
The bridge, which goes over the River Thames, was initially closed in both directions as emergency services attend to the scene.
Black smoke could be seen billowing out of the vehicle, which was stationary.
Both police and the fire service were in attendance.
Transport for London advised drivers to expect delays as the nearby Waterloo Bridge was also closed following a collision.
A spokesman for London Fire Brigade said: “The taxi fire on Blackfriars Bridge is under control. No reports of any injuries. The cause is under investigation.”
