A fireman landlord who owned the house in which five people died in an arson attack appeared in court at Prestatyn today accused of their manslaughter through gross negligence.

Jay Brenton Liptrot, 43, owned the property at Maes y Groes, Prestatyn.

In October 2012 a fire resulted in the deaths of Lee-Anna Shiers, 20, partner Liam Timbrell, 23, their son Charlie, 15 months, and Miss Shiers’s nephew Bailey, four, and niece Skye, two.

Liptrot, of Gronant Road, Prestatyn, was bailed by magistrates to appear before Mold crown court next Friday.
