Firefighters tackle large pallet fire near Huncoat railway line

More than 30 firefighters have tackled a large blaze at a pallet yard next to a railway line in a Lancashire village.

Ten fire engines were at the industrial premises off Enfield Road in Huncoat.

Residents were advised to keep doors and windows closed since the fire, which involved 3000 wooden pallets, generated a large plume of smoke.

The incident caused delays of up to 30 minutes on trains between Blackburn and Rose Grove in Burnley, National Rail said.

There are no reports of any casualties, Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service said.

The fire broke out at about 13:30 BST on Friday 13 May and was brought under control by 15:00.
