Sixty firefighters tackle Oldbury warehouse blaze

Around sixty firefighters were tackling a large blaze at a recycling warehouse in Oldbury last night.

Ten crews attended the blaze at the premises in Union Road after a fire broke out on a conveyor belt.

Crews from across the West Midlands tackled the flames, including firefighters using an hydraulic platform.

West Midlands Fire Service said the premises had been evacuated prior to crews arriving.

Officials advised people to avoid the area and for nearby homes and businesses to keep doors and windows shut.

He tweeted: “Safe, effective and assertive fire fighting actions have now brought fire under control.”

West Midlands Ambulance Service paramedic Jack Lewis said one person was being treated for the effects of smoke following the blaze.

And Aston Fire station posted an update early on Tuesday morning, showing the inside of damaged machinery.
