A body has been found by fire crews tackling a blaze in a Grade II listed building in north Devon.
Crews from Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service were called to Meadow Park Lodge, in Filleigh, at about 2.30am today (18th June), reports BBC News.
The fire service has revealed that they found a body during their operations and are searching the premises for other victims.
Firefighters are still dampening down the site, which is now deemed to be unsafe due to the structural damage caused by the blaze. The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, a ‘suitable and sufficient’ fire risk assessment must be conducted on all commercial properties in England and Wales.
If the fire risk assessment is deemed to be carried out to an insufficient extent, the Responsible Person can face a fine imprisonment or both.
