Pictures show dramatic moment car catches fire on residential street

The road in Sale was closed for 45 minutes while emergency services dealt with the incident

This is the dramatic moment a car burst into flames on a residential street in Trafford.

Firefighters raced to Washway Road, in Sale, when the car set alight at around 10.45am on Monday morning.

Images, taken by a neighbour, show the moment flames started appearing from the bonnet of the Volkswagen.

Firefighters were then pictured using hose reels to tackle the fire.

The road was closed for around 45 minutes while fire crews worked to tackle the fire.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said nobody was injured during the ‘minor’ incident.

A spokesperson for the service said: “We were called at 10.40am on Monday morning to a fire involving a car.

“One crew from Altrincham attended extinguished the fire. Firefighters were at the scene for around 20 minutes.

“Nobody was injured during the incident.”
