Housing Sector – Fire Safety Management
Very often there are two pieces of legislation in force within this more complicated sector. This can mean enforcement from at least two regulatory bodies, The Fire Service and the Local Housing Authority with on occasion a third becoming involved, Building Control.

It is within this area that Wirral Fire Protection have gained extensive experience having carried out a vast number of fire risk assessments from small bedsits with shared facilities to multi storey private residential developments. We work very closely with the regulatory bodies to ensure that the correct level of compliance is provided ensuring that responsible persons, landlords, building managers or even apartment owners, are not left open to litigation in the event of a fire situation or a visit from an enforcement officer.

Very often the advice we offer can result in huge cost savings as our assessors will only make recommendations if they are deemed to be absolutely necessary. This means where we feel this is a risk to life rather than property.

“None more so than in the housing sector is the need for some clarity on what active or passive fire safety systems and measures may be required. It is our ultimate aim to bridge the gap between installers/engineers, assessors and the regulatory bodies to ensure that a more consistent approach is adopted resulting in an adequate level of safety is achieved for residents and stakeholders, and that a degree of common sense prevails.”
